On 8 March 2026, during International Women's Day, Play of Hope Uganda had the honor of welcoming Fadilah Shamika Mohammed, the Women’s Singles Gold Medalist at the All Africa Senior Badminton Championships 2026.
Fadilah visited the club to spend time with the young athletes, offering both encouragement and practical support. During her visit, she generously donated badminton clothes and rackets to the players, helping equip them for training and future competitions.
Beyond the donations, the highlight of the day was the opportunity for the young athletes to interact directly with an African champion. Fadilah shared her journey in badminton, speaking about the discipline, perseverance, and commitment required to compete at the highest level. Her story provided inspiration to the players, many of whom dream of following a similar path in the sport.
The visit became even more special when Fadilah stepped onto the court to play a few friendly games with the athletes. For the young players at Play of Hope, it was a memorable moment — learning firsthand from a champion and experiencing the spirit of the game alongside her.

Her visit on International Women’s Day served as a powerful reminder of the role women play in inspiring the next generation through sport, leadership, and generosity. Play of Hope is grateful for her time, mentorship, and contribution to the development of young badminton talent.
